Carbondale Bicycle Master Plan

The i5Group led the first ever bicycle master plan for Carbondale, Illinois. The plan included an inventory of the existing bicycle network, identification of connections between routes in the existing network, identification of existing roadways that could accommodate bicycle facilities, recommendations of short and long term policy changes, and action items to move Carbondale towards recognition as a ‘Bicycle Friendly Community’.

Public engagement was a very important part of the process. The i5Group worked with SIU campus groups to bring students into the planning process. The i5Group also met with numerous stakeholders including Carbondale Middle School, IDOT, Main Street, Chamber, and other community groups.
